Autum Fog in Schwabenheim, lasting all day. These photos were taken around 11am. I tried to get out earlier but my camera was having issues and I had to return home to Google how to reformat the memory cards. The fog was much thicker earlier on in the day.

Wein Sommer 2011 Schwabenheim

On the first weekend in Schwabenheim I got to experience the local Wein Sommer (Wine Summer). It was tottally awesome! Great wine, dry and white the way I like it mostly.

From left to right: My partner, an Italian dude, and my partners father.

There were ten local wine producers, and the transport service was outstanding.

I think the local girls were laughing with me.... I couldn't really understand so they may have been laughing at me.

None the less, I was having a great time!

First few days in Germany

The arrival in Germany was fantastic. With wealth of things to see and do I hardly noticed the jet lag. Choice buildings, some of which were hundreds of years old. The days were awesomely hot. Amazing blue sky and warming sun. There was a clear diffenition of spring, something that New Zealand seems to miss out on. The district I was in (Rheinhessen) reminded me of Hawkes Bay, viticulture was prominent.

Still waking up in the early morning I managed to score a few early shots. That didn't last long, soon I was quite happily catching on the lost sleep in the mornings.

Stop Off In Korea

When flying to Germany recently I flew Korean Air. I was dubious at first since I'm not a seasoned traveller. However after flying with them I think they're bloody great! "Polite, organised, nice smelling people" said a Russian passenger describing Korean people to me.

The flight from Auckland to Frankfurt meant a stay for 20 hours in Seoul, Korea to wait for the plane that would take me to my final destination. A hotel was provided and it gave a great opportunity to rest up, stretch the legs, and run around like a mad tourist, 6am Korean time, photographing EVERYTHING!

The scene from my room provided a pleasant view of a small part of the city. And also an excellent full moon, amazing service. Not only for the full moon, but also for the buffet dinner and breakfast, and a little toilte which also double as a drinking fountain, genius!

With sleeping, eating, long showering, there wasn't much time to explore. In the two hours I managed to tear around the city I was blown away by the sculptures, gardens, and architecture. I'd happily fly through there again, ideally for a little longer next time.

Leaving Auckland

The morning I left my home town Auckland. An apt overcast day, with glints of sun. Sad to be leaving New Zealand behind but also very exciting.
